Silent concert headphones: hear the band the way the engineer does
Silent concert headphones send the live mix directly to every listener, so bands, choirs and pianists can perform where amplified sound is out of the question.

Some of the loveliest places for live music in Singapore are also the ones that need to stay quiet: a gallery inside a heritage building, a rooftop garden, a hotel courtyard, a museum lawn, the beach at Sentosa or a green corner of Dempsey at dusk. With silent concert headphones the band plays, the mixing desk feeds our transmitters, and every listener hears a clean, balanced mix in wireless headphones. The space stays almost silent and the music feels close and detailed.
Silentsystem has supported this kind of performance in Europe, from the Yamaha Silent Experience, a piano concert on headphones, to silent fashion shows at the Fashion Weeks of Milan, Madrid, Granada and New York. The same equipment is available in Singapore for unplugged sets, jazz evenings, recitals, theatre and spoken word, brand showcases and silent yoga with live music. Listeners often say they have never heard a live band so clearly: each instrument has its place, the voice feels near and nothing echoes off the walls. Artists gain intimate stages that would otherwise be off limits, and venues gain a new kind of evening that respects the neighbours.
Why choose silent concert headphones
Sound close to the studio
Listeners hear the desk mix directly, with a clarity no room acoustics can match.
Unexpected venues
Galleries, conserved buildings, rooftops and gardens become concert halls for a night.
Personal volume
Every listener sets their own level, comfortable at any age.
Extra channels
A second channel can carry commentary, a translation or an alternative mix.
Gentle on the area
Residents, hotel guests and people passing by are not disturbed.
The right headphone
The SX-553 Evolution HiFi delivers crisp HD sound, ideal for acoustic and classical music.
How a silent concert works
Link the mixing desk
The sound engineer sends the main mix to the transmitter through XLR or RCA.
Give out headphones
Audience members pick up headphones at the entrance and select the channel.
Perform live
The band plays; the audience listens on headphones, with the natural sound of the stage in the room.
Setting up headphones for a concert
At a concert every listener needs a pair, so count seats or capacity. A gallery set for 40 works with up to 50 headphones; a rooftop concert for 150 needs up to 200.
- Up to 50 headphones: S$360–580, indicative.

Tips for a successful silent concert
- Soundcheck on headphones: the engineer should listen through a pair before doors open.
- Acoustic instruments: a little unamplified sound in the room adds atmosphere; mix with that in mind.
- Seating: with up to 500 metres of range, listeners can sit anywhere in the venue.
- Second channel: offer commentary for a museum night or a translation for an international audience.
- Volume: hand out headphones turned down and let each listener adjust.
- Evenings outdoors: after sunset is the most comfortable time in the heat; keep a sheltered space ready for rain.

Questions about: silent concerts
Can a live band perform with silent headphones?
Yes. The band plays as usual; the sound engineer sends the mix to the transmitters and the audience listens through the headphones.
Is the sound good enough for jazz or classical music?
Yes. The SX-553 Evolution HiFi offers crisp HD sound designed for detailed listening.
Can we offer a translation on another channel?
Yes. With up to three channels you can run the music, a commentary and a translation at the same time.
How far can listeners sit from the transmitter?
Up to 500 metres, depending on the surroundings, which is more than enough for any venue.
Do you provide the sound engineer?
No. We supply headphones and transmitters; for complex events, rental with assistance includes technicians for our equipment, not for the band's sound.
